Reflections on “Psychoanalysis and Narrative: Literature, Film, and Autobiography” (Routledge, 2024)
Main Article Content
This text exists thanks to the cordial invitation of the director of the magazine Poligramas, Álvaro Bautista-Cabrera. Accepting it and beginning to write it confronts me with a completely new phenomenon: writing in Spanish about a text of my own written in English. A preliminary clarification: my six previous books required no action on my part after their writing and the subsequent correction of the proofs. I was living in the United States at the time, one of the publishers was in Spain, and the rest in Argentina. So, once these books were published, they took on a life of their own in reviews, bibliographical citations, and became the subject of other academic activities. Why, then, do I now feel the need to present this latest book? Might I say more, where does this maternal urgency to protect this new creation come from? The answer is not easy and brings with it new questions that will constitute not only the structure of this text but also the indirect reference to the topics included in my book.
