The article explores the complexities of gender and sexual diversity crises in Severino Salazar's work 'Jesús, que mi gozo perdure,' focusing on the character of Terry Holiday. Set in contemporary Zacatecas, Mexico, the narrative intertwines the lives of various characters amidst social upheavals. Terry Holiday, a transgender woman and artist, becomes a symbol of resistance, embodying resilience and empowerment in the face of adversity. Through these works, Salazar offers a poignant reflection on the ongoing struggles for acceptance and visibility of LGBTQ+ individuals in Mexican society, explored through the lens of queer theory.

José Manuel Palma Márquez, Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas, Zacatecas, México

Originally from Zacatecas, he holds a degree in Literature from UAZ and graduated with a degree in Pedagogy from UVEG. He is currently pursuing a Master's in Education and Professional Teaching Development at UAZ and a Master's in Literature at COLMOR. He has been teaching for four years and has collaborated in the dissemination and promotion of the poetry of Ramón López Velarde, commemorating the centenary of the poet's death. He participated in the "Cycle of Recognitions to Zacatecan Writers" at the Academic Unit of Letters of UAZ and was a moderator in the "International Conference Cycle on Female Culture in Mexico", highlighting its authors and main works. He is the creator of the reading club "Imaginary Threads" and has published a story and an article in the Redoma magazine of the Academic Unit of Letters of UAZ. Recently, he took part in the SIZART radio program: "The Awakening of the Mind", where he reflected on the queer in literature. In addition, he plays an important role as a cultural advisor for the municipality of Guadalupe, Zacatecas, contributing to the enrichment of the region's cultural life.

Claudia Liliana González Núñez, Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas, Zacatecas, México

Mexican and distinguished Doctor in Novohispanic Studies from the Autonomous University of Zacatecas, she serves as a teaching researcher at the Academic Unit of Letters of the same institution. She is a member of the academic group UAZ-180, focused on the "History and criticism of the relationship between literature and New Spain". Her current research line centers on the "Continuities and ruptures of the Novohispanic world in contemporary Hispano-American literature", a field that explores the persistence and transformation of Novohispanic elements in today's Hispano-American literature.
