Abstract

Under the translation and selection of the poet Jorge Aulicino, today we have the possibility of rereading passages from Common Places (1961), The Three States (1963), The Word of Death (1968), Italienisches Liederbuch (1974), Unpublished Poems (1980), by Juan Rodolfo Wilcock, or better yet, Wilcock, simply. The Italian poems, which we revisit in this virtual collection of Ediciones op.cit, have the particularity of showing us testamentary poetry: Wilcock founds his language from an insurmountable future because man is, above all, his past. He looks at himself and glorifies his passage through life in the manner of a classic aedo, that is, he sings what happened from a rural childhood: “the monkey I was following a fox, / happy to see an ostrich for a change” ( 4), until adulthood on European soil: “now/ I am a reader of the Einaudi house” (4).
